Established in 2014
My first experience of candle making was over twenty years ago when I bought a paraffin wax candle making kit. I quickly became addicted to this new pastime and would make for family and friends.
I only use Soy Wax now and the benefits of Soy Wax can be read below.
Over the years I gave birth to my two children who both play a role in Angelic Aromas Aberdeen which is very much a family business. Angelic Aromas Aberdeen started up in 2014 which was meant to be a hobby as I also have a part time job, this wasn’t to be the case though and year on year our little family business has grown. I love what I do and find it very therapeutically relaxing, it’s my time to switch off from the outside world.
My partner Alan plays a big part in the business sourcing our materials and making products, he also helps out at events we attend, our daughter is only 16 but is quickly learning the ropes and my son is
studying a business management degree and he often gives little business tips.
Everyday I’m learning new techniques and love what I do as no two days are the same. I was fed up buying high street store candles and diffusers etc. with very little scent, now our home is full of the products we make and everyone who visits comment how amazing our home smells. I love launching new products and aromas and I love getting feedback from my customers on how they enjoy how my products look and smell.
Soy Wax Flakes
What Are the Benefits of Soy Candles?
Paraffin wax is commonly used in candles, but soy candles are another option on the market. While soy candles look and smell similar to their paraffin counterparts, they offer distinct advantages.
Soy candles are made from soybeans, a natural, renewable source grown in many regions by local farmers. Paraffin candles are made from petroleum, which is a nonrenewable source that contains carcinogenic substances. These substances may be released into the air while burning. Using candles made from soy supports agriculture and farmers, allowing them to make money and grow their operations.
A candle made from soy wax burns cleaner with little soot released as the candle burns. Paraffin candles often create a significant amount of black soot that collects on the jar, as well as on your walls and other surfaces of the home. The soy candle may accumulate some black soot on the jar, but the amount is much less than paraffin candles. Soy candles are also non-toxic, so they won’t release toxins into the air as they burn.
Soy candles typically last longer than a paraffin candle of the same size. The reason behind the longevity of soy candles is the slower burning time and cooler burning temperature of the soybean-based wax. You may pay more for a soy candle initially, but the longer-lasting burn means you won’t have to buy new
candles as often. Soy wax is also biodegradable, making it an investment that benefits the environment.
A soy candle works well for holding onto the scent from fragrance oils, which are often used to scent candles. Because they burn more slowly, the scent is gradually released; there won’t be an immediate wave of strong scent. This creates a more pleasant atmosphere for most people.
